SPACE KNIGHTS LIVE ACTION SHOOT GO!

Red Knight waiting for his close up.

Right about now (the funk soul brother) we're animating episode 1 of 2 on the good ship Space Knights for Teletoon's Detour uplift pilot program. Wee's got to thinkin about 3 months ago, "hell we've never done any live action mixed with our animation in ages!" So we thought it'd be fun to contact the Space Knights and see if they'd come over and shoot some extra footage for our pilots!

The lighting genius Mark Hemmings checks his blackberry more than you do.

So our delicious Fatkat writer, Brian Tucker kicked us out a few diddys, we passed them to our boys at Teletoon for a quick review and within a week we had our other boys at Hemmings House Pictures come up to shoot some Space Knight goodness. Here are some pics from last week's shoot.

Producer Rob Anderson is always on the phone.

We shot all four clips here at Fatkat, we're lucky we have a vast range of locations within our building that suited our objectives. Having a pub in the basement of the studio has more benefits then we originally plotted!

Creative Producer "Beans" Mark and Andrew all get the final set ready for shooting.

Here's some silly stills from each shoot.

Beans gets the old broom closet down in the Legion bar ready for the Green Knight shoot.

Andrew and I go over the script for the Blue's shoot up in the coffee lounge.

Again in the Coffee lounge, Andrew helps Red get his gear on.

Black of course takes a break at the bar with a pint of lager and his favorite gang sign.

More to show soon!

Go Muthaflippin Space Knights!

FROM THE OFFICE OF ANDY COYLE

I wanted to put up some samples of the new Space Knights for you guys. For those of you who don't know, it's the "other" show we're doing right now. Though I'm not sure how you wouldn't have known that... unless you're deaf and blind... I digress.

First up is the new Red Knight.

The bombastic leader. You can tell because he wears red and has a heroic voice. Like Brendan Fraser, he's tough yet approachable. Unlike Brendan Fraser, he's a big brother on weekends and teaches kara-tay at the local Y. Artistically all of the other knights look the same, just colored different.

And then we have Beyonda.

Beloved wifey of the Black Knight, Beyonda is best described as hot. Sure... loud-mouthed, bitchy, shrill, and irritating are probably more accurate, but who cares when she looks like that!

Last but most definitely not least, Croctopus!

This giant cross between a crocodile and a platypus is looking for love! He's a libra who enjoys long walks on the beach, getting caught in the rain, and timid woodland creatures. Unfortunately he only dates nines or tens, so he spends most of his time smashing things and yelling nonsense.

THE DETOUR on TELETOON | PILOT PROJECT

October 2nd, 2007

GO SPACE KNIGHTS GO!
FATKAT’s “SPACE KNIGHTS” green-lit for The Detour on TELETOON Pilot Project.

Toronto, ON and Miramichi, NB – Viewers will be tuning in to TELETOON for the fall ‘08 debut of Fatkat Inc.’s SPACE KNIGHTS, as a part of The Detour on TELETOON Pilot Project. A recent initiative of TELETOON, The Pilot Project invites producers to submit new, no-holds-barred comedy to be broadcast on The Detour on TELETOON, the network’s popular teen/adult orientated programming block.

Created by FATKAT, SPACE KNIGHTS is an animated parody of super hero cartoons of the late 90’s. The SPACE KNIGHTS are a group of slightly outdated superheroes who drive Honda accords that when linked together, can transform into a variety of giant robots, from a pterodactyl, to a giant T-Rex, to a saber tooth tiger. They use these and other powers to stop a never ending stream of bizarre creatures and insane villains. The irreverent comedy follows the misshapen adventures of the crime-fighting team who must battle bickering and in-fighting almost as much as the external foes they face.

“FATKAT is thrilled to be working with TELETOON” says Andrew Dunn - FATKAT’s VP of Business Development. “We look forward to finding SPACE KNIGHTS home on The Detour. We are so glad to be working with such a great Canadian company” Dunn added.

FATKAT is heading to MIPCOM this year with a lot of steam behind the project and hopes to attract more worldwide interest its properties.

FATKAT, based in New Brunswick, Canada, began its days in 2003 as a service animation house with four employees, and today employs over 120 full time staff, providing a range of production needs within the animation industry. Having worked on numerous television series these past four years such as Happy Tree Friends, and currently working on Three Delivery, a co-venture with Animation Collective, FATKAT has moved beyond, developing its own content for various genres. Check out Fatkat.ca for more information.
